Consumer are still having a hard time determining whether they are in compliance or not with the law in regards to the display of fireworks in Michigan. Recently a local news station broadcasted that fireworks are only legal to shoot on the day before, the day of, and the day after the 4th of July. The following article written back in 2011 when the law first passed explains how it is legal to display fireworks year round in Michigan. What the law did include however, was that local governments could not enact ordinances that would prohibit the display of fireworks the day before, the day of, or the day after a National Holiday. So what does that mean? Basically, throughout the state of Michigan on the day preceeding, the day of, and the day after a National Holiday you are free to display fireworks in Michigan. Any other day of the year, it is recommended that you check with your local government to find out whether they have enacted a ordinance that prevents the display of fireworks on other days of the year.
